Last July, Trinity Parish announced plans for a high-rise condo project on the grounds of First Hill Episcopal Church, located on Eight Avenue and Cherry Street. An Australian developer known as Caydon has now submitted a design as well as released more details on how the property will be transformed. The historic church itself will remain intact, but the current parish hall and food bank on the property will be demolished. A new hall will be established in the lower levels of the new tower, which will also house an art gallery and cafe. The food bank has declined space in the new building, but has been promised as year’s advance notice from the parish before construction begins. The new building will feature over 200 new condominiums, as well as rooftop amenities. There are also plans in the works for a garden space between the church and the tower. New condo developments have been surprisingly rare in Seattle in recent years, with no new units opening in 2017.
