The Green Lake property that includes the iconic diner Beth’s Cafe has been listed for sale on Redfin. The land, which covers 7307 to 7323 Aurora Avenue N, also currently includes Duck Island Ale House (owned by the same entity as the cafe) and a lawnmower store. The 15,280 square foot plot is currently listed at $6 million, indicating high hopes for redevelopment. Indeed, the listing indicates that the property could be transformed into a dense 68-unit mixed-use development. The area is near some key transit lines to downtown, and could be eligible for up-zoning upon the passing of Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) legislation.

Beth’s, a 24-hour diner, has been serving hungry customers since 1954. Janelle Norvel, the general manager, has stated the restaurant has no immediate plans to close. But if the parcel is bought, the restaurant’s future, at least at it’s current location, may be in developer’s hands.
