Due to economic expansion in the region, the Port of Seattle has many plans in the works for both the seaport itself and Sea-Tac Airport, which the Port of Seattle owns and operates. In the immediate future the airport is adding a waiting area for passengers boarding plains from the ground. Over the next few years, the airport plans to complete two major projects: the establishment of a new International Arrivals Facility and the renovation of its North Satellite facility. At the seaport, Terminal 5 is being redeveloped in a $287 million dollar joint venture between the Port of Seattle and the Port of Tacoma. This project will allow the port to accommodate the largest container ships, a move that will likely create maritime jobs in the region. The Port of Seattle is also partnering with Norwegian Cruise Lines to redevelop Pier 66 to handle larger cruise liners.
