Beacon Hill Grocery Transforms into Arts Space

A 1929 building on 21st Avenue South and Stevens Street that began life as a corner grocery store has now been transformed into a multi-use space for the arts and community events. Married couple Janet Galore and Demi Raven bought the space two years ago while still dating. Though the building is no longer zoned for commercial use, the owners wanted to use it for something that would impact the surrounding community.  In addition to studio and equipment space, “The Grocery” has already hosted a variety of events including concerts, political fundraisers, and summer camps for kids.  Galore and Raven, who both have day jobs at Amazon, have planned a line-up of experimental art exhibitions for the coming months.
