Everett’s Paine Field Opens to Passengers in February

paine fieldWhile Sea-Tac Airport continues to undergo expansion, fliers will soon have have an alternative to the north. Everett’s Paine Field, which broke ground on its new passenger terminal in June 2017, will begin commercial flights early next year. Seattle-based Alaska Airlines has stated that they will begin flights out of the public-private airport in February pending government approval, with nonstop trips to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco and other major West Coast destinations. United will soon follow suit at the end of March with direct flights to its hubs in San Francisco and Denver. Southwest will also eventually be joining the fray, though it is currently lending some of its gates to Alaska.

The new passenger terminal is being developed by Propeller Airports in partnership with Snohomish County. The facility will feature a mid-century modern design, including large window banks, an exposed wood ceiling, and an inviting fireplace. Propeller has stated that opening the field to commercial service will play an essential role in accommodating the region’s economic expansion.
