The Elliott Bay Trail is well-known in the Seattle biking community for its accessibility and waterfront scenery. Starting July 18 though, the trail will be temporarily rerouted onto a shared road to make way for Expedia’s new campus near Centennial Park. Part of Expedia’s plans include improvements to the trail, which should reopen as normal in fall of 2019. Mike Nagle, Expedia’s VP of real estate, issued a statement outlining plans to soften the trail’s bend as it turns around the new campus.  The temporary bike detour runs along a less-trafficked section of Alaskan Way, while pedestrians will have to venture over the Helix Bridge. Exepdia is working closely with SDOT, and the advocacy group Cascade Bicycle Club has also approved Expedia’s plans.
