After many delays and a long wait, the Whole Foods in the recently completed Danforth building in the First Hill neighborhood will open on October 30. The 40,000 sq ft store will include a bakery, butcher department, self-squeeze orange juice, an espresso bar, and a fast-casual restaurant with beer and cider on tap. This location is the fourth of its kind in Seattle, with current stores located in the Westlake, Interbay, and Roosevelt areas. A West Seattle Whole Foods has been in the works since 2012, but its future remained uncertain until September of last year. Whole Foods is owned by Seattle tech giant Amazon, who purchased the company for $13.7 billion in the summer of 2017. Luxury apartments in the Danforth have already opened to renters, with a studio starting at $2,160 a month.
