ScanlanKemperBard (SKB), a Portland-based real estate company, has expanded its Seattle holdings by purchasing the Original Rainier Brewery, a historic facility in the industrial Georgetown neighborhood. The 187,477 square feet mixed-use property consists of four brick-and-timber structures that date back to the early 1900s, and was declared a historic landmark in 1993. The property was refurbished by previous owners Sabey Corp beginning in 2006, and now houses over 50 tenants including Patagonia, KEEN Footwear, REIT, Elysian Brewing Co., and Fran’s Chocolates. SKB has said that they will continue the prior owner’s commitment to improving the property while maintaining historical integrity. The brewery marks the company’s second Seattle area purchase in the last four months, having previously acquired a seven-story office building in Bellevue in October.
